Non-profit
A non-profit does not aim to make a profit. In other words, there is no profit motive. Nonetheless, there may be times when those who use the services of a non-profit organization have to pay for it.
Non-profits often support private or public affairs for non-commercial and often social purposes. This can be about a wide variety of things, such as art, education, politics, research, or development aid.
Although these organizations are not profit-making, they do need income. Their income often comes from subsidies, donations, and their own revenue. This income can arise from actions and contributions of “customers” to the costs incurred or contributions of members. Non-profit organizations that are subsidized by the government are quality-controlled by the government. If the organization does not meet the quality requirements of the government, the subsidy can be stopped.
